One of my favorite parts of our new house is that we have a guest bedroom to host our family and friends who come to Dallas. My parents have already visited a couple times but this week is a big one: my friend Kelly from college stayed with us on Tuesday night, our friends Mike, Natalie, and Zach from New York are staying with us this weekend, and my sister Reilly is staying with us on Monday and Tuesday as a pit stop on her cross-country road trip. Whew! I’m so excited to play hostess to everyone and show them our new city.
The state of the guest bedroom right now isn’t bad but it’s certainly not what it could be. We’ve prioritized decorating the dining and living areas since that’s what guests see first and where we spend most of our time. I definitely want to take our time making this place feel like home but I do have big plans for what the guest bedroom might look like in a year or two… Friends, you’ll just have to visit us once it’s all finished!

Will has a really cool collection of bluebonnet paintings that I’d love to reframe and hang above the navy headboard from my New York apartment. I also had a white campaign dresser in storage at my parents’ house that works pretty well but we’ll eventually want new bedside tables (we just bought these for our master bedroom), a mirror, and maybe a chair for a little reading nook. In the mean time, I plan to welcome our guests with the very basics: clean sheets, fresh flowers, and a bottle of rosé in the fridge. 😉
