One of the funny things about being 5’1″ is that skirts and pants that hit most people at one length hit me at a completely different one. For instance, I love cropped skinny jeans because they hit me at the ankle so I know I won’t have to get them hemmed (ahem, put off going to the tailor for months and cuff them instead). Similarly, I think it can be hard for petite girls to pull off midi skirts, but this one actually fits me more like a maxi skirt (a style I’ve loved since I wore one in our engagement photos). Whether it falls mid-calf or floor-length on you, this skirt is totally twirl-worthy, with a fitted waist and flared skirt that flatter all kinds of body types.
I’m having a major Mara Hoffman moment this season (see another Mara Hoffman outfit here) and I couldn’t resist this patchwork midi skirt in bright white, red, hot pink, peach, and yellow. I paired it with a J.Crew scoopneck t-shirt that I’ve picked up in three or four colors over the years — it’s just an easy (and affordable) basic that goes with everything in my closet. As you know, probably 90% of my wardrobe is made up of different shades of blue, so it’s fun to step out in such a bright piece every now and then!
