Ali and her husband Patrick are leaving the island at the end of the weekend (I don’t want to talk about it ???) but we’ve definitely been making the most of their final few days on Nantucket. On Tuesday, we went for a frigid morning swim at Surfside when everyone else on the beach was wearing sweatshirts and even the lifeguards thought we were insane. Then yesterday, we all piled into the car at 4 o’clock in the morning and drove out to Great Point Lighthouse to catch the sunrise.
It’s definitely those times when you feel totally crazy in the moment (why would I get in that freezing water?! why are we all awake this early?!) that make for the fondest and funniest memories. I already reflected on my friendship with Ali in this post but she and Patrick have been the most fun-loving, go-with-the-flow, spontaneous house guests and it’s been the best shake-up for my usual routine. I know we’ll be traveling with them for many years to come!
We had to drive out to Wauwinet to pick up day passes to drive their Jeep out to the lighthouse and made a little detour to see the hotel and restaurant. I tend to stick to my usual haunts on Nantucket and I definitely made a mental note to come back and try Topper’s sometime soon! It’s such a stunning property and totally secluded from the hustle and bustle downtown. The shirt I was wearing is a fun twist on a classic white button-down and has been in heavy rotation of late. I’m also loving these pleated white shorts — I live in dressy shorts during the summer and I love that this pair resembles a cute little tennis skirt!
