How was everyone’s Valentine’s Day? My husband was out of town for work but my mom had the day off so we got to spend the entire day together. I had a bit of a cooking disaster on Tuesday night (more on that in tomorrow’s rose and thorn post) so she offered to come grocery shopping with me and show me her must-have items to stock our kitchen so I won’t have to order takeout the next time an attempt to cook goes awry. We went to Target, Trader Joe’s, and Cosi (I always forget about Cosi but it really is so good!) before taking the dogs to the dog park and for a long walk around Rowayton.
My mom has four kids, seven girls she and my dad live with as resident directors of the ABC program, and a full-time job as a registered nurse… so needless to say we don’t always get a ton of one-on-one time together outside of workout classes a couple times a week (where we’re usually more focused on keeping up than catching up). I am forever in awe of her endless energy — kicking my butt at the gym, taking care of eleven (!!!) kids, killing it in her career — and it made my heart so happy to spend the whole day with her. Plus we finished the day with breakfast for dinner at the ABC house (is there anything better than breakfast for dinner? I’m 28 and it is still my favorite) and an instructor who came over and walked everyone through a guided meditation at night so I’m feeling extra zen at the moment. I hope your day was filled with lots of love!
