Striped Belted Linen Shirtdress

No one does all-American summer style better than Ralph Lauren and this year I couldn’t resist this classic blue and white striped linen shirtdress even though I’ll be wearing it without the belt for the foreseeable future. This is also the kind of dress (sleeves, belted waist, not too short and not too long) that I would gravitate towards for family photos on the beach if that’s something you’re planning for this summer!

One month with Rory 💙

I remember feeling the stresses of this chapter so acutely as a first-time mom, consumed by 2 a.m. Google searches and wondering when (if?) I’d ever feel like myself again. It’s not that this phase is any less exhausting the fourth time around, but I feel like each age of our children’s lives reveals a slightly more capable, slightly more confident version of me who’s better able to rise to the occasion for the various triumphs and challenges each chapter of motherhood has in store.

I feel so intent on relishing this little newborn bubble where the rest of the world fades away a little bit and life is so singularly focused on meeting the needs of this teeny tiny new miracle and his three older brothers. There are things I love and treasure about every age we’ve experienced so far, but these slow days and long nights with our children as newborns hold such a special place in my heart.

I wish I could go back and relive that first newborn chapter with the perspective of a fourth-time mom, but I can only try to reassure any of you who find yourselves in the thick of it. I’ll tell you what I think I most needed to hear then: you are doing a great job; you are exactly the mom your little one needs; it feels hard because it is hard; and just you wait: everything is going to be so much more than okay. 🫶🏼
