We recently added this scalloped wicker console (similar here and here) to our dining room and I wanted to share a little behind the scenes of my decorating process! I had originally hung this gold wave mirror above it as a way to play up the brass tones in the frame of the Nantucket painting and the chandelier you can see in this post, but the color of the mirror and the color of the wicker console felt too similar and the whole wall was just kind of falling flat for me.
I lived with it for a few weeks until one night I had the idea to move this coral mirror that was previously in our bedroom, begged my dad and husband to make the switch that weekend, and ta da! I think the contrast of the white mirror with the blue grasscloth and warm wicker is much more interesting. (I’m sure there will also be people who prefer the wave mirror I originally had here and that’s okay too!)
I am constantly tinkering and moving things around our house but I think it’s a good reminder that it’s okay to change your mind, make mistakes, and try something new until you find something you like better. At some point I also want to upholster the seat cushions to break up all the white, but progress is progress and decorating takes time!
