So excited to share some long overdue decorating progress in our bedroom! This room has gotten very little love since we moved into our house a little over four years ago and I was over the moon when Ballard Designs reached out about sending a few products to help spruce up a space in our home. I have ordered so many Ballard pieces over the years — this mirror in our mudroom, the ottoman in our living room, these nesting baskets in our playroom, and all the outdoor furniture in our backyard off the top of my head! — and I couldn’t wait to add some of their beautiful pieces to this previously neglected space.
I also ripped off the bandaid on adding applied trim to the walls, replicating what we’d done in the hallway and stairway but adding trim above the chair rail as well. This room is very small for a primary bedroom so I wanted the trim to make it feel a little more elevated and distinct from the more playful wallpapered children’s bedrooms on the same floor. Between the trim and several timeless additions from Ballard Designs, I am loving the way it’s coming together!
The first piece I picked out was this Atoll rectangular mirror. We have the smaller version in our mudroom downstairs and I knew the wavy frame would be such a pretty contrast to the linear trim underneath. Next I picked out these triple gourd lamps that pull out the prettiest shade of green in the Dana Gibson print above our dresser. I brought a little more green to the opposite wall with these block print pleated lampshades atop these classic urn lamps on our bedside tables. We are still waiting on framed wallpaper panels which will hang on the wall separating the bedroom and closet as well as a valance and curtains for the wall behind our bed, but this first layer with the trim, mirror, and lighting has already completely transformed the space!
We also added these café curtain panels to our bathroom and I love that they give us the flexibility to keep them open and enjoy the view of our backyard or have total privacy stepping out of the shower across the room. I had thought about doing plantation shutters or woven blinds here but I really think these give us the best of both worlds! My mom hemmed them to fit our window and I’m happy to cross this little project off the list.
There are so many items I adore from Ballard Designs but will share just a few more here today in case you’re sprucing up a space or two in time for the holidays! I adore their chippendale dining chairs, these counter stools, this slipper chair, this wavy sisal rug, these wicker lampshades…! Check out their new arrivals here and all their holiday decor here.
