This is my third pregnancy doing my best to avoid dedicated maternity clothing (outside of maternity jeans — I own this pair in multiples) and finding ways to size up in styles I love from the brands I typically shop.
Dress Styles That Work During Pregnancy + Beyond
I find being pregnant during the summer much easier to dress for and have been taking notes on all the styles that work well for me in the second and third trimesters: nap dresses (bonus points because they’re great for postpartum and nursing as well), shirt dresses (as long as I can remove any sort of tie at the waist), and t-shirt dresses.
I first ordered this button-front maxi dress in navy and found myself reaching for it so often that I decided to add this pretty sky blue color to my closet as well.
It has a roomy fit that I can wear in my regular size XS through the end of pregnancy and then later cinch the waist with a belt to continue to wear it after pregnancy. In some ways I’m weirdly feeling more inspired to share outfit posts during this pregnancy because I feel like I can really be helpful to other women who are struggling to feel like themselves during a time of constant change — it’s so tempting to live in oversized sweatshirts and workout leggings. But I’m going to try to stay in “real clothes” for as long as I can!
P.S. Teddy and Peter are both wearing Cadets shorts (use code MACKENZIE15 for expedited shipping) and Floafers (one of my favorite boy mom finds to date — they have the feel of Natives but the look of a driving loafer and I’ve already ordered four pairs between the two of them). Looks like all three of us have landed on our summer uniforms! 🙂
