OUR CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS

I’ve shared our Christmas decorations in years past (here and here if you’re interested!) and while many of our decorations stay the same from year to year, I did want to share a few little things we’ve added or done differently this year!

Christmas wreaths and faux boxwood topiaries

We recently painted our yellow exterior white (Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace on the siding and windows and Benjamin Moore Essex Green on the doors!) and the new colors are so pretty with holiday greenery. We have these wreaths on our front doors and faux boxwood topiaries similar to these in these chippendale planters on our front porch (I will say the topiaries we have are very top-heavy so while I love the look, you’ll may want to consider rocks or something heavy to keep them anchored down!).

Decorative Christmas trees

I love these shimmery gold Christmas trees that I ordered on a whim from Amazon! If the gold has sold out, they’re also available in silver here. They would be so pretty clustered on either side of a fireplace mantel too!

Decorating a Christmas tree with toddlers

I kept most of our glass ornaments in storage this year to toddler-proof our Christmas tree and instead picked up 15 of these tinsel balls from Target that look like shimmery glass but are made of styrofoam and tinsel so they reflect the light beautifully but weigh next to nothing and are impossible to break. They keep going in and out of stock online but I would check your local Target store if you like the look — I wish I’d bought twice as many! Also if you’re decorating a Christmas tree with toddlers in mind, we’ve found having a little barricade of already wrapped presents in front of the tree to be a helpful deterrent. And if you’re looking for a woven tree collar, this and this look similar to ours!

Mini boxwood wreaths

My mom hung these mini boxwood wreaths on the back of our kitchen counter stools with clear fishing line and we are definitely making them part of our holiday decor every year going forward! Such a sweet and simple touch. Lastly, we had a mini Christmas tree sitting in our garage and removed the plastic base so it would fit inside the blue and white planter in the boys’ playroom. You can also see the doorway garland we added between our living room and dining room in this post
