I was so excited to try on the new Hill House Livie nap shorts from their spring drop and wanted to share a review for anyone who’s considering them ahead of spring and summer trips! I’ve become a huge fan of Hill House nap dresses over the course of my second and third pregnancies and was excited to see Hill House introduce a pair of smocked shorts!
The style: I see myself wearing these shorts primarily as a cover-up over swimwear, but they would also be cute with a casual t-shirt and sneakers or an off-the-shoulder top and espadrilles. The navy Livie nap shorts coordinate perfectly with the navy Isla swim top and navy Lola swim bottom and I see myself wearing this combination frequently this summer. I also love that the shorts have subtle pockets at the seam — always a plus to have spot to stick my phone when I’m carrying a baby or lugging a bunch of things onto the beach.
The fit: I love the idea of a summer short that’s not denim, but I did find the smocked waist on the Livie nap shorts much more structured than the signature smocking on the Ellie nap dress (these definitely really suck you in!). I initially ordered the Livie shorts in a size XS (the same size I wear in their nap dresses) but returned it for the size small (the same size I’m wearing in their swim top and bottom). If you’re deciding between two sizes, I would recommend ordering the larger of the two for the comfiest fit!
Color options: I see myself getting the most wear out of the navy Livie nap shorts (I know, shocking!), but they also come in a cute blue and white gingham (with this matching top) or a green and white floral (with this matching top). It’s definitely a silhouette I could see myself purchasing in more than one color over time so I hope we’ll see the Livie nap shorts appear in future drops as well!
