OUR TRIP TO BOSTON

Will and I spent two nights in Boston at the end of last week as a belated celebration for our sixth wedding anniversary and we had the best time! The city was really showing off weather-wise but I was glad I’d brought this quilted jacket for mornings and nights. (Btw I’ve heard from several of you agreeing how much better this jacket is in person — the length is perfect, the corduroy collar and gold buttons are *beautiful*, and the photos online don’t do any of it justice!)

Anyway! We adored Boston. We actually felt like we could see ourselves living there if we thought we could handle an even rougher winter than we have in Connecticut but alas, we’ll settle for weekend trips in warmer weather. 🙂 Thanks to your recommendations on this post, we had fantastic meals at Saltie Girl, Contessa, and Lola 42 and enjoyed coffee and breakfast treats from Tatte Bakery & Café.

We also caught a Red Sox/Yankees game at Fenway Park (#51 on my 101 in 1001 list!) and meandered through Acorn Street, the Boston Public Garden, the Boston Public Library, and the Charles River Esplanade. But the highlight of the trip was far and away picking out books for the boys from Beacon Hill Books & Café — it’s a four story townhouse with different categories of books on each floor and filled floor to ceiling with thoughtful and whimsical design details that would delight adults and children alike. (I really think I could go back ten times and still notice something new on each visit — just an absolute delight.)

It was fun to bring back Red Sox caps and new books for the boys as little souvenirs from our time away. We had such a restorative 48 hours to ourselves (even if we did walk more than 16,000 steps one day!) but kept remarking how much our boys would love this or that — I can’t wait to go back with them sometime!
