I’m so excited to spotlight an incredible artist today! Susan Graham Switala is an artist out of Long Island, New York, who creates the most striking abstract seascapes and I am truly giddy to have one of her paintings now hanging in our living room! I had been keeping an eye out for a more saturated piece of artwork to act as a focal point on this back wall and it was so special to work with Susan to create this custom piece. If you have a large space to fill above a fireplace, sofa, dresser, etc., I could not recommend working with her more highly! Her commissions start at $350 and she completely tailors the process to suit your vision for your space.

A little about the process if you’re curious! First I sent Susan measurements for the space I wanted to fill and images of some of my favorite pieces from her website that I loved the feel of. I also sent photos of some of the furnishings in this room so she could choose shades of blue that would complement the bergère chairs on either side of our fireplace and the floral fabric on these armchairs. And then the rest was all her! The end result is even more beautiful than I imagined and completely ties this room together.
