MARCH Q&A

I did an Instagram Q&A yesterday and thought I’d answer ten more of your questions here! You can read my January Q&A here and my February Q&A here if you like these kinds of posts.

March Q&A

1. Ok now I need those baby boy photoshoot options in adult woman sizes!

(In response to a round-up of baby boy outfits for a beach photo shoot which you can see here!) For family photos where I’m likely holding a toddler, I like something midi or maxi length that will move nicely in the breeze and ideally something with a little bit of a sleeve since I’m usually not crazy about the way my arms look while wrangling a squirmy toddler haha. A few ideas here, here, here, and here!

2. Favorite place to buy affordable art?

Etsy! A few current favorites here, here, here, and here.

3. How do you (if you do) hang kids’ preschool art? I’m not a saver but feel mom guilt…

My rule of thumb is I save anything with the boys’ handprints or footprints on it and eventually toss (almost) everything else. We use these fridge clip magnets to display those more seasonal projects!

4. Current skincare routine? Similar age/skin type and need to start putting more effort into it!

I try new products reasonably often but the one skincare product I am never without is Vintner’s Daughter. It costs a fortune but my skin looks 10x worse if I go longer than a few days without it. If you have cystic acne, this is the only product that’s ever made a difference for me. I like pairing it with an affordable moisturizer like this one that’s super thick and hydrating (and spreads more easily with the Vintner’s Daughter serum underneath). I switch up cleansers and serums just about every time I run out but I’ve been reordering these peel pads for several months in a row (I love a product that gives you a truly immediate result — this insanely good exfoliating mask I use once a week or so is another one that falls in that category!).

5. Any good non-maternity but bump-friendly brands?

I love a comfy t-shirt dress when I’m pregnant! This one or this one would be adorable with a bump. This shirtdress fit me in my regular size through most of my third trimester and this is a great style if you need something you can dress up a bit!

6. Pink baby shower dress? Why are all maternity dresses either skin tight or frumpy haha.

I would think outside the box beyond just maternity options! Anything flowy, smocked, or with a higher waist should work with a bump too. A few options for you here, here, here, and here!

7. Had my first baby girl at Christmas and honestly prefer dressing boys! Any pointers please?

Aww I’m sure you can have fun dressing a baby girl too! A few things that would get me excited: baby Jack Rogers, little seersucker dresses, these precious swimsuits, this tiny trench, this tennis skirt for when she’s a little older…! Also I think some of my favorite children’s pieces are totally unisex — these shoes, these sweaters, these pajamas!

8. Nantucket recommendations for dining! Going in July.

I would say our three favorites are probably Cru for lobster rolls/water views, Millie’s for family-friendly/great margaritas, and Ventuno for Italian/more date night vibe. You can find tons more recs for every meal of the day plus beaches, hotels, and shopping in my Nantucket guide here!

9. How to dress the boys for the beach! Favorite swimwear?

I love Minnow for both rashguards and swim trunks (these, these, and these are some of my current favorites). Target also makes a cute affordable rashguard with a slightly baggier fit!

10. Where do you find inspiration / what inspires you?

I save a lot of images on Instagram, Pinterest, and in a folder on my desktop and love scrolling through there when I need to see something pretty! I follow lots of interior designers so most of my saved images have to do with design or places I hope to travel someday. And I would say the other thing that keeps me inspired is having a list of 101 things I want to do in 1001 days! Obviously I’m not crossing something off that list every single day but checking it every couple weeks is a helpful reminder of the goals I’m excited about taking on in this chapter.
