I’ve had this headboard since my studio apartment days in New York City and recently had it reupholstered to match the gingham curtains in one of our boys’ bedrooms. I last shared pictures of this bedroom in this post from 2021 but a lot has changed in our household since then (an additional baby + one more on the way!) so we have kind of played musical chairs moving different bed configurations around upstairs to accommodate each season of change. I love this Schumacher Bermuda check fabric so much on the cornice boards and curtains in this room that I decided to do a gingham headboard to match and I’m so happy with how it turned out! It’s possible this space will have still more iterations as our needs change in the years to come but I love how happy and bright it feels in here now.
P.S. The headboard itself is from Katie Kime when she was still designing furniture — I wish she would bring back her line as it was so unique but you could achieve a similar look reupholstering something like this!
P.P.S. Reupholstering this headboard and hanging art in this bedroom were both goals on my 101 in 1001 list — excited to check both of them off now!
P.P.P.S. You can find my go-to upholsterer’s information in my Fairfield County guide here!
