A fun little before & after to share today! I found this vintage shell chair on Facebook Marketplace for $50 and have had it sitting in our garage for more than a year awaiting a fresh coat of paint and a reupholstered seat cushion.
I finally admitted to myself that having three (soon to be four!) kids age 5 and under was incompatible with my aspirations for these types of weekend projects, so I outsourced to two people I’ve worked with before, the furniture painter whose information you can find in this post and the upholsterer included in my Fairfield County guide. I’m so thrilled with the way it turned out! I plan to use it as my desk chair in my little garden house/home office that I hope to have ready to properly photograph and share with you at some point this year.
If you’d like to search for something similar, I’d use search terms like “Venetian shell chair,” “grotto shell chair,” and “carved shell chair.” You can find similar styles like this online but I continue to think Facebook Marketplace is the best bet for finding unique pieces for a steal!
