MY 15 BEST PURCHASES OF 2023

Thank you guys for your kind notes about my reflections on 2023 and thoughts on 2024 that I posted a couple days ago. Today I’m sharing what I consider my 15 best purchases of 2023, from Amazon finds for our household to instant staples in my wardrobe. You can see my best purchase of 2022 and my best purchases of 2021 here!

My 15 best purchases of 2023

1. Beautural handheld steamer

I’ve long preferred a steamer over an iron for getting wrinkles out of a dress or shirt, but I ordered this particular steamer on the recommendation of a girlfriend who said she used it for bedding and table linens because you can use it at any angle — including horizontally — without water pouring out. Sold! I used it on our tablecloths for Thanksgiving and Christmas (which are always so large and unwieldy if you iron or try to hang before steaming!) and it worked like a charm. Available on Amazon here.

2. Goop Himalayan salt scalp scrub shampoo

I posted a mini review for this shampoo on my Instagram a couple months ago and I know many of you are now fellow devotees! It leaves my hair squeaky clean, super soft, and has the most incredible smell that lingers subtly in your hair for hours. One tub lasts forever but this will be a forever repurchase for me. Available on Amazon here.

3. Miss Mouth’s Messy Eater stain remover spray

If you are a parent doing laundry for children and don’t have this in your repertoire yet, prepare for your life to be changed. My mother-in-law clued me into it a couple years ago but it wasn’t until they introduced this full-size 16 ounce bottle that it became a household staple for us. If you frequently find yourself treating otherwise impossible food stains or the remains of preschool paint projects, this is a must-have. Available on Amazon here.

4. Mirraazzurra slingbacks

I can’t believe it’s only been a year since I added these to my closet because I can hardly recall a time they weren’t my go-to shoe for blogger events and double dates. They look 10 times more expensive than they are and even then my cost-per-wear would be well worth it. Available on Amazon here.

5. Amazon faux diamond studs

I’ve lost too many pairs of earrings to trust myself with the real deal, including another pair of faux diamond studs I’d bought during the Nordstrom anniversary sale a few years back. I stumbled upon this $16 pair on Amazon and have been wearing the 6.5mm size daily ever since. Available on Amazon here.

6. J.Crew heritage quilted barn jacket

Hands down my best J.Crew purchase of the year (and there were many!), this quilted barn jacket was my go-to fall coat from the moment it arrived. Love the length, the gold buttons, the corduroy collar — perfection! Available on J.Crew here and see it on here.

7. Dr. Dennis Gross peel pads

A skincare rec I’d had on my list to try once I was no longer pregnant or breastfeeding and I’m so glad the time finally came because these live up to the hype in a big way. My skin looks instantly brighter — and feels instantly softer — after every single use which has been a powerful motivator to use them most nights. I started with the five-pack and splurged on the 30-pack after one use. Available on Amazon here.

8. Mighty Patch hydrocolloid pimple patches

Because it had been years since I’d used any kind of retinol, my skin did purge quite a bit after I started using the peel pads and these pimple patches were an absolute lifesaver. I put them on right before bed and found it oddly satisfying how much they pulled to the surface overnight. Apologies for the visual but this is one of those things where if you know, you know. Available on Amazon here.

9. Keenhot towel warmer

My husband’s favorite thing I’ve ever bought on Amazon (we literally shuffle it from our bathroom to the kids’ bathroom because no one wants to bathe without it). Available on Amazon here.

10. Rainbow pill organizer

In the second half of the year, I finally got serious about actually taking all the supplements I’d long known I should be making a nightly priority and this rainbow pill organizer was a colorful reminder I kept right next to my bathroom sink so I wouldn’t forget. Available on Amazon here.

11. Varley Freya sweatshirt

You know how you could own three dozen sweatshirts but you’d probably still reach for the same two or three over and over again? That’s how I was with this sweatshirt from Varley that I ordered on Amazon. It’s longer in the back so it works great with leggings and the drawstring waist makes it feel a little more pulled together than my more (ahem) lived-in college and Nantucket sweatshirts. Available on Amazon here.

12. Alice Walk beach pants

Ok, these were initially gifted to me by the brand but I loved them so much I went back and bought a second pair in navy blue. I turned two of my closest girlfriends onto them too and got back rave reviews. I wore mine over swimsuits to the beach and pool, with a t-shirt to lunch with the kids, and with a sweater for long lines at the Juice Bar. Once you’ve tried them, you won’t want to wear anything else. Available on Alice Walk here and see them on here.

13. Amazon clip magnets

My friend Carly recommended these a while back and it was an instant add-to-cart. We have about a zillion other magnets on our fridge that the kids love moving around, but none of them could reliably hold all the construction paper projects that make their way home from preschool each week. If you have a family calendar, invitations, or toddler masterpieces you’re looking to display, these clip magnets are the way to go. Available on Amazon here.

14. Kindle Paperwhite

I started researching the Kindle Paperwhite when I found myself listening to certain audiobooks at 0.5x speed so I could laboriously take notes while listening. I initially thought I’d just use it for non-fiction books I wanted to highlight (which you can do digitally and export as notes — yes please!), but I’ve found myself reaching for it to flip through a novel while getting a pedicure or before turning out the lights at night too. Two thumbs up from me if you’ve been on the fence! I got the 8GB without lock screen ads, available on Amazon here.

15. Permasteel patio cooler

Another find worthy of the Amazon hall of fame. We *love* this thing! It has a roomy insulated interior with a double-hinged lid (we’ve done kids’ drinks on one side and adult beverages on other), a built-in bottle opener, a drain plug, and it’s on wheels so it’s easy to scoot around our patio. It’s been a huge help for backyard birthday parties! We keep it outside year-round with the matching cover and it’s good as new. Available on Amazon here.
