A STRIPED BEACH TENT FOR BABIES AND TODDLERS

A couple weeks ago I shared our family beach day essentials and I wanted to highlight the cute striped beach tent we’ve been using this summer on Nantucket. It’s our four-month-old Rory’s first summer out here and since he’s still too young for sunscreen, we rely heavily on this pop-up beach tent (and his little monogrammed sun hat) to keep him safe from the sun.

This pop-up beach tent for babies is one of those rare baby gear finds that checks both boxes: practical and pretty. The blue and white stripes blend right in with the rest of our beach set-up but more importantly, the tent offers plenty of shade, with a zippered mesh window that creates a breezy little spot for him to nap or lounge while his three big brothers play nearby.

This striped baby beach tent pops open in seconds (it comes with stakes but I usually just use our beach bag to anchor it in place) which is key when you’re juggling four kids on the sand. Folding it back up is admittedly another story — I’ve watched the how-to video on Amazon probably half a dozen times and it’s still a bit of a wrestling match to get it back in the carry bag when we’re headed home. I hope someday someone invents a beach tent that folds itself back up with the click of a button, but until then this is what’s getting us through. 🙂 It’s cute, lightweight, and folds flat so it fits easily in the car — highly recommend if you’re bringing a baby to the beach this summer!
