I published my newest 101 in 1001 list three months ago and thought I’d share an update on the goals I’ve crossed off so far! I keep this list of 101 things I want to accomplish in the next 1001 days (2.75 years) as a happy medium between daily to do lists and a lifelong bucket list and it’s been such a helpful format for me since I wrote and shared my first list in 2011 (!). You can see my current list as well as links to previous lists here!
15. Fix my camera dial.
Why is it that some of the most nagging tasks — the ones we let plague us over a series of weeks or months — ultimately take a total of five minutes to tackle? At some point the dial had come off my DSLR camera and a local camera store told me it would take several months to send off for repair. Unwilling to be without a camera for that long, I decided to see if I could fix it myself and ordered a replacement dial on Amazon for $12 that took literally 30 seconds to apply once it arrived. It’s not “perfect” but it now functions exactly as I need it to — problem solved.
16. Design a product for a brand I love.
Designing this collection of dresses and pareos for Shop Navy Bleu was a dream come true, not just because the pieces feel so true to me and my style but because I got to create and photograph them in partnership with my mom, whose experience in the fashion industry made the final product assortment 10x stronger than if I’d done it on my own. You can see what’s still in stock here!
28. Needlepoint a Christmas ornament for Tucker.
I used a canvas from this Etsy shop and shared a photo of the finished canvas in the needlepoint highlight on my Instagram!
29. Needlepoint a Christmas stocking for Tucker.
See above! I ordered Bauble Stockings canvases from KC Needlepoint and had each child’s name painted at the top. I am so pleased with how this third one came out and I can’t wait to (hopefully) see all three of them hanging on our mantel come Christmastime!
37. Dance in the rain with our kids.
I have a crystal clear memory of putting on raincoats and dancing in the rain with my siblings and cousins at a house my parents rented on Nantucket when I was maybe eight or nine years old and I wanted to recreate the memory with my own children at some point. I happened to be solo with Teddy and Peter at Sankaty Lighthouse one morning this summer when the skies opened and it started to pour, and instead of sprinting to the car, we turned on some of their favorite songs and ran around in the rain with the entire place to ourselves. The boys were thrilled and it was just a really happy little motherhood moment to get to surprise and delight them! I hope we do this one more than once in the coming years. 🙂
77. Build outdoor shower.
I shared the end result here! I can’t wait to enjoy it well into the fall and for many years to come.
78. Fix stone pathway from driveway.
Admittedly this was a project for a landscaper but one that had been on my to do list ever since we finished our pool! The stones from the arbor to the patio were wobbly and they just needed to be set in place with stone dust. Another quick and relatively inexpensive project that I probably would have put off for another two years had it not been on this 101 in 1001 list. 🙂
79. Add additional trellises for climbing roses.
I shared photos of the arched trellises along our garage wall in this post and then we added these smaller trellises on either side to start training two additional climbing rose bushes. I have so enjoyed making our backyard our own these past couple years and can’t wait until it grows to look like the renderings I shared here!
And a few more things I've made progress on...
These aren’t ready to be fully crossed off, but I have purchased a canvas to needlepoint a sunglasses case (#10), contributed to my IRA for the year (#13), made Global Entry appointments for me and Will for later this month (#27), have almost finished a needlepoint belt for my dad (#47), scheduled a consult to install a stair runner at home (#63), and drove/walked out to Great Point this summer (#92). You can see what else is on my list here!
